Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Psalm 23:4

At some points of our lives, we all walk through those valleys.  It might be a bad job situation, or a relationship gone sour, or just a time of difficulties.  The good news is that God is always with us.  We need not fear anything, especially evil, for God is present.  David, a shepherd, knows the importance of the rod and staff.  The rod fended off attackers while the staff (a typical shepherd’s crook), was used to guide and even pull back sheep if needed.  God is always defending us and guiding us.
